What is Funky Food?

We rescue fresh produce that would otherwise go to waste because it doesn’t meet retailers' cosmetic standards.

We’re the underdogs here to build a grocery store with a soul that you can be proud of :)

Can I place a one-off order?

Unfortunately you can’t. However straight after ordering you can cancel your subscription. The Funky experience is one of ultra convenience. If you just go with the flow and subscribe, you’ll see how addictively convenient it can be. Set and forget. Tweak it slightly here and there. So flow!

Is the produce fresh?

Absolutely! We grab it straight from Aussie farms and get it to your doorstep quicker than your local supermarket. It might look a bit funky, but it’s crisp, juicy, and ready to eat.

Can I choose what goes in my box?

You bet! You can create a fully custom box and add anything you like. Minimum spend $40 :)

Fruit only or veg only boxes?

We don’t have fruit only or veg only boxes, but you can customise your own. All fruit, all veg, or somewhere in between :)

Where do you deliver to?

We deliver to most of Southeast QLD, NSW, ACT, and VIC. Check if we deliver to you here.

Can I change my delivery day?

Unfortunately not yet. We batch suburb delivery days together to minimise carbon emissions and keep costs low. We plan on offering a 2nd delivery day soon :)

I'm not home during delivery. Can I choose a time?

Sadly you can't. Your box will arrive before 6:30pm on your delivery day. Don’t worry if you’re not home - it’s packaged to keep fresh for up to 12 hours outside.

Organic fruit and veg?

Unfortunately not anymore, there wasn’t enough demand for us to do it efficiently.

What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?

No worries - we're the only fully custom rescued produce provider. You can build a custom box and pick exactly what goes in it! Or you can exclude up to 4 items from your variety box.

Is the packaging eco-friendly?

Absolutely! We pick up empty boxes and packaging (including foil liners and ice packs) and reuse them where possible. Please note this service is only available for our in-house deliveries at the moment. Our third-party courier, Home Delivery Service, isn’t able to offer packaging returns just yet.

Can I edit my future boxes?

Of course! Create an account using the same email address as your order to edit your subscription via the account portal.

Why doesn’t Funky Food offer fish or seafood?

Right now, Funky Food doesn’t offer fish or seafood by choice. Seafood requires same-day processing and very strict cold-chain handling to maintain quality and safety. Offering it across QLD, NSW, and VIC without increasing waste or compromising freshness isn’t something we’re comfortable doing yet. Rather than offering fish “just because,” we’ve chosen to focus on what we do best: rescuing fresh fruit and veg, supporting Aussie farmers, and delivering great-value produce and meat with minimal waste. If there’s ever a way to offer seafood that meets our standards for quality, sustainability, and value, we’ll absolutely explore it 🧡
