Hi there 👋

I'm Kamran, the founder of Funky Food.

It’s always puzzled me how raw ingredients cost so little, yet grocery prices are so high.

And the prices keep rising while the ingredients seem to be getting more and more fake.

Like a packet of healthy chips in raw ingredients with packaging at a maximum costs $0.5 yet it’s sold for over $6.

It's such a privilege to be living in Australia, but our grocery stores are letting us down.

This is what happens when there’s a lack of innovation - the simple act of finding ways to do more with less. Take the first mobile phone for example, it cost $12,000, but now you can get a much better version for just $100.

Without innovation every year we see:

• Prices going up
• Quality going down
• Cost-cutting measures that often lead to bully like tactics hurting farmers
• A lack of responsibility, like the insane amount of food waste within the system

We think it’s time for an update. That’s why at Funky we’re trying our best to build grocery store 2.0 with a mission to make fresh, healthy food abundant.

By this we mean creating food products that are:

• Actually fresh, delivered the same day or just a few days after production.
• Actually healthy, using ingredients you can pronounce and recognise, just like you would at home.
• Abundant, widely accessible and affordable, much like what the internet did for information.
• Plus enabling Funky Charity to try an innovate a solution to food insecurity and hunger. We put a man on the moon in 1969 - solving this problem feels much simpler and should have been done by 2024 (learn more about Funky Charity here)

Now we’re going to make a lot of mistakes on this journey, but hopefully overtime we can prove that our hearts are in the right place.
